5 out of 5 stars great little item   March 11, 2010
oldpcguy (usa)
I get fair to lousy radio reception where I currently live. With this wifi adaptor I get great sound - and I don't even use a router. Setting up my favorites list was a bit of a nuisance, and navigation is a clumsy process, but it's great to be able to listen to stations from places where I used to live. And now I can listen to stations from places I've never even visited.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable!!! This thing delivers!!   March 10, 2010

Quick setup. Love the portability, as I have individual patch cords installed on all my stereo receivers scattered throughout the house/garage that allows this to be hooked up easily. This thing delivers!!!

4 out of 5 stars Nice Appliance - 3 Stars + 1 for the sound   March 10, 2010
Maj. Sanders (Middleworld, VA)
Did exactly what I intended, allowed me to get Internet radio sans PC. RCA jacks allowed me to plug it into the receiver. Simple set up (initial wi-fi setup sucks if you have a long pass phrase) but got through it. Found a great oldies station, and got spared drama when wifey walked in to the house and her first words were "Oh, I love this song" upon hearing the stream.

A few gripes:
It is operated by remote only - lose it and you're looking at a paper weight. Will have to get a multi unit to store signals.

The display doesn't provide track information, however the Info button will display where the stream originates.

The display can't be turned off or dimmed. Hope they fix this via firmware.

Got it on a Gold Box so the cost:benefit ratio was acceptable.

5 out of 5 stars Very solid, good value   March 9, 2010

Did some very light research, bought this in end on whim since it was an Amazon Gold Box deal. Excellent value. Setup was very easy; just ensure you have your WiFi network password on hand. Trickiest part about it for me was, silly enough, getting the remote set up (pull the notched edge of battery casing *inwards* towards center of unit with fingers of one hand; with other hand, slide out). There's a faux battery in there for placeholder, it seems. I emailed customer service, late on a Friday night before I'd figured out the battery, and got back three follow-up emails in quick succession: over a weekend! This was in addition to a follow-up call. Excellent customer service so far. Got unit up and running within two minutes.

Only drawbacks so far (I *just* started playing): would love, as one reviewer noted, to have the song information posted up. But a means of inputting URLs for radio stations would be great, however cumbersome that might be with the solely available select-character-and-click-with-remote means of inputting data. But the menus, organized by geographical region, and genre, seemed comprehensive enough. I live in NYC and there's lots of WiFi noise, but this little unit found my favourite Canadian stations instantly.

Off and running. I'm very pleased!

(Note, would be great eventually to have a touch-screen menu, though I know that would drive up the price point.)

5 out of 5 stars Kissing my satellite radio subscription good-bye!   March 7, 2010

I love this item; I had it on my "wish list" as a targeted future purchase, and just had to jump on it when it was featured as a "Gold Box" item. Within a few minutes of receiving the Myine Internet Radio Adapter, I had it unboxed, coupled with my wireless internet, plugged in, connected to my home stereo and ready to go!

Setting up this device is a no-brainer; even a techno-novice can get the Myine working. Everything you need is right in the box: a 3 foot RCA cable, AC adapter, mini-remote and simple instructions (I went to Radio Shack to extend the length of the cables and purchased a 20 foot length, in addition to a coupler, so as to have freedom in placing the device, but it's not essential for you to do so.) Once you have achieved the physical set-up, you can do an auto search for a wi-fi connection (you will need your security key handy); I have Verizon Fios and hadn't any problem whatsoever. The remote is your sole source of controlling the device, so don't lose it or let your dog get a hold of it! I have my unit set up by my Hi-def TV and sit approximately 14 feet away; although you will need to get up closer to read the stations on the Myine's 2 inch screen, the remote will work just fine. (Once you establish your presets, you will familiarize yourself with the stations and reading the screen will be a non-entity.)

Between radio stations and podcasts ,there is a wealth of genres to choose from. Presetting your favorites is easy and you will have up to 40 of them at your fingertips merely by pressing a button. Station reception is adequate and digital quality of both music and podcasts is fantastic!

Audiophiles listen up; if you are tired of paying a monthly fee for your satellite radio subscription, invest your money and purchase a Myine...you won't be disappointed!

One more thing; as I am an Amazon prime member, I received 2 day upgraded shipping...the item arrived on time and without a hitch. Kudos to Amazon!
