Product Description Escort Passport GPS Powered Radar with Red Display - 9500I
Amazon.com Product Description With the new PASSPORT 9500i, Escort has revolutionized the radar detector category again. Its blistering performance is built upon the PASSPORT 9500i, which means it delivers the best protection possible against all speed measuring devices. Escort added advanced GPS-powered intelligence, which makes the PASSPORT 9500i on of the best performing, quietest and most user-friendly radar detector ever designed. A truly intelligent radar detector. | Ultra-bright alphanumeric display with 280 LEDs. | Four metering modes, including the new SpeedAlert mode. | Includes Quick-Release Windshield Mount, Coiled SmartCord, and ESCORT Travel Case. Click to enlarge. | All-Band Protection The 9500i provides extreme long-range warning on all radar bands including X, K, superwide Ka, and instant-on POP mode. Multiple front and rear laser sensors provide 360 degree laser protection, including the widest field of view. For the ultimate in laser protection, the Passport 9500i is also ZR3 ready. TrueLock GPS Filter This new feature allows you to permanantly "lock out" a signal in a specific location. Once you store a signal, it will be rejected the next time you are in that area. You now have the power ot eliminate false alerts by location and frequency. Mark Location This new feature allows you to instantly "mark" known speed traps, cameras and other places of interest. Once marked, the 9500i will provide an alert any time you approach the saved locations. Voice Announcements New easy to understand voice announcements provide instant audible feedback for controls and alerts. All alerts and instructions can be communicated using a voice announcement, or, if preffered, normal tones may be used. AutoVolume The new AutoVolume feature automatically increases the alert volume in noisy conditions. In this setting, the 9500i's built-in microphone listens to the ambient noise in the vehicle and increases the audio in noisy conditions (e.g. loud music, excessive wind noise, etc.). Brilliant Display The 9500i features an ultra-bright alphanumeric display with 280 LEDs. The device displays three high-resolution meter modes: standard Bar Graph display or ExpertMeter and SpecDisplay for more advanced users. ExpertMeter tracks and displays up to 8 radar signals simultaneously, and SpecDisplay provides actual numeric frequency for any radar signal. Finally, new for the 9500i is SpeedAlert metering, which displays the driving speed during each alert. GPS-Enhanced Auto-Sensitivity Mode Passport's AutoSensitivity mode provides long-range warning, with minimum false alarms. In this mode, Passport's internal computer continuously analyzes all incoming signals and intelligently adjusts the sensitivity circuits. The addition of GPS intelligence means it also adjusts according to motion--as your vehicle's speed increases, the sensitivity range increases. As your speed decreases, so does the sensitivity, further eliminating unwanted and unnecessary alarms. You can also select conventional Highway and City modes. When driving in urban areas where annoying X-band intrusion alarms and door openers are common, City mode can be engaged to lower X-band sensitivity and reduce X-band alerts. Safety Warning System The 9500i also offers Safety Warning Systems (SWS) detection. This safety feature warns you of the presence of potential road hazards by detecting signals from safety transmitting devices. One Year Limited Warranty Get extra peace of mind with Escort's one-year limited warranty. The company also offers a two year extended service plan. What's in the Box Passport 9500i, Owner's Manual, Quick-Release Windshield Mount, Coiled SmartCord, Quick Reference Card, ESCORT Travel Case

Great Product June 27, 2010 Sunil (Chicago, IL) The radar detector works great. If anything it is a bit too sensitive in the automatic mode, but that is better than not being sensitive enough I guess. Easy to use, although it is tough to see the buttons while you are driving so that you can properly mark locations or adjust the screen brightness.
I'm loving it. March 6, 2010 J. Perez So quiet. But, it only achieves that through the GPS that remembers where the false alert was. However, the cup holders are the same old weak found on a $30 radar detector, so you have to buy the optional single cup priced ($25 with shipping) to get the complete feel of a quality product. On the downside, the gps won't work if the car had been sitting under the sun.
From Valentine One to Passport 9500i January 19, 2010 AreYouKidding? First off, the V1 is a fantastic and ultra-sensitive detector. I've had three of them in the past 10-years. The range is fantastic and it saved me countless times. It does have the arrows, which are great and all, but I found myself not really needing to know where the threat was coming from. What I really wanted was to 1) know the threat was real and 2) slow down to the posted speed limit if it was. The V1 never delivered on the "Is it real part?". It was always barking at me, proud to point me to various non-threatening radar-sources in the city or along the highway. Yes, it saved my ass a lot, but the noisy commute was getting to me.
I purchased a 9500i after reading some favorable reviews online. After one week, I knew this style of detector was right for me. The sensitivity was very equitable to the V1, but it shined because of its built-in GPS feature. I pass by six K-based RADAR Speed Limit signs each way on my commute. With GPS marking, I could easily lock out those specific non-threatening signals. The next time I would pass by, the system would be silent. When approaching one of these "marked" locations, the GPS icon on the display would start to rotate. This was essentially the 9500i saying, "I'm picking up the radar signal, but I'm not "bleeping" because you told me this exact location is not a threat". Simply awesome! The unit is quiet until an unknown threat is detected. When it detects something, it alerts me and I slow down. A few seconds later, I'm usually smiling as I drive by a LEO at the posted speed limit.
Like I said, simply awesome.
Great unit! Use it Daily! January 11, 2010 Bill (New Orleans, LA) This is an awesome unit. has already paid for itself in saving my butt. the false signal blocking is great.. it takes some time to learn your area.. three times with same freq at same location and it learns its a false signal. At first was annoying till it learned these around my area.
The ability to mark speedtraps is great.. it reminds you of these areas so if you forget about them.. you know. And when you update the updates.. it registers your places for others.
To those that get a ticket with laser.. well no unit gives you a lot of notice on those signals... its a very instant on thing. And usually if its signalling laser..its too late anyway.
Love the unit..best radar dectector i have ever had! Have had a Dell before and a 7500 from Escort.
Doesn't detect K pulse band! September 28, 2009 Remo Geroni (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Actually, this is my first review I have ever written for anything else. I have owned couple of radar detectors before (Omega Japan, which is mainly oriented for Asian market and Cobra XRS 9330). Both of them were pretty good but
were very much sensitive to false signals like X band, KA bands.
I bought Passport 9500i three months ago and it turned out to be the best radar detector comparing to the ones I have owned before. There are
a lot of cool features like 'true lock', 'mark location' which uses GPS technology,'speed alert' etc. It has very long range of detection for x-band signal as well.
But...there is big drawback! This radar detector has absolutely NO reaction against so called K-pulse signal used in Russian radar guns like Iskra-1, Berkut, Vizir etc. These radar guns are becoming quite popular in Russia and in some
former USSR countries. So my review is basically oriented for customers from Russia.
I would probably put six stars for this product if I lived in United States but in the country where I live, this radar detector has become pretty much useless!
