1 out of 5 stars Absolute waste   January 4, 2009
Sandeep Joshi (London, UK)
Hello,

I bought this product about a couple of months ago and had a problem from day one. I was a too lazy to post a review but this morning it broke into tiny pieces while pulling out of power outlet. The signals are very week, there is a squeaky sound all the time, it wouldn't stand straight and keep falling off and the grip is absoultely rubbish. Please don't waste any money on this one, it is a very poor quality product.

1 out of 5 stars poorly designed and easy to break   December 31, 2008

bought these in august and in less than 4 months, the arms that supposed to grip the iphone into place is broken off as well as the internal spring system for the squeezable arms got jammed!

in terms of useability, the frequency display is at the top, so if you have your iphone at a slant in the holder, you cant see the frequency that easily. the bendable neck itself is stiff enough to hold iphone up, but the weight of the iphone makes the whole transmitter rotate around the cigarette lighter. you will find yourself having to re-adjust the transmitter every few minutes as it will annoyingly rotate around. it needs a better designed grip in the actual cigarette plug-in.

quality of the FM transmitter isnt good neither. it hisses and crackles regardless what frequency you set it at! so i never bothered to use the transmitter which defeats the object of buying this product. i found myself using this transmitter to charge and hold my iphone in place..... even then, it doesnt hold it in place! lol

2 out of 5 stars Nice idea, poor application...   November 19, 2008

Well it works, but.... Every time I go around a corner it rotates around the cigarette lighter socket, it's only point of contact with the car and flings the iphone against the gear stick or the floor. I now have an unsightly piece of string holding it in place. There must be better somewhere!!! ALso a bit of a pain that you have to plug in the power socket at the bottom and the audio jack at the top. Surely they could have done it all with one socket. And it keeps on turning off even though powered and in use.......

5 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin!   October 14, 2008

This product does exactly what it says on the tin! Despite it's suprisingly modest price, it performs extremely well in all aspects. I purchased this unit over 4 weeks ago and have had it in daily use with my iphone 3G in my 4x4 every day. The unit provides a sturdy and sensible height hands free cradle, whilst enabling you to either listen to your iphone's itunes or to receive/make calls completely hands free, using your existing in-car stereo speakers. The unit even lowers the volume automatically when you are listening to itunes on the iphone when you either make or receive an incoming call.

In summary, I have found this unit extremely good value for money and the only tip I would pass on when using it is to ensure that your iphone volume is set to the max before you plug it into the device-that way the output signal is maximised into your car stereo, which avoids any distortion when adjusting the car stereo for volume on playback or 'phone calls. With regards to the 'beeping' reported by some other reviewers, this is simply the digital phone signal from your device 'cross talking' into the car stereo when in close proximity-I found that by simply moving the unit a couple of centimeteres either way by bending the adjustable stalk slightly cured this problem straight away.

All in all - an excellent product!

2 out of 5 stars It's good, but it's not the one!   October 13, 2008
Mr. H. Moir
I purchased this item a few weeks ago for use with an iPhone, and accepted that as it was relatively cheap the quality may not be top-notch!
Recieved the item in good time, and initially it worked excellently, for both transmitting my iPod tracks through the radio, and also for a hands-free device for the iPhone.
After only a week of useage, albeit a reasonable amount of useage, the plug part of the device came apart in the socket, and obviously stopped working. Leaving the small parts within the socket! I have tried to mend the device, so far to no avail...
