Super little gadget March 12, 2010 David Moore (Northern Ireland) I sent for this little transmitter to allow my wife to use our Zen Xi-Fi2 in the car. I had already purchased an X-mi speaker which works perfectly well in the house for single person use but was not much use in the car.I must admit I didn't expect the Lupo to be anything special, although it had good reviews, since the little speaker had rave reviews but failed to do what I had hoped it would.Well I have to say that I am very pleased with this super little gadget. The radio playback is just like any other station and now we have full volume control and can now enjoy the Zen Xi-Fi2 to it's full extent in the way we wanted.I would recommend that the adapter for plugging into the cigarette lighter is used as the batteries do appear to lose power quite quickly. This is not faulting the Lupo in any way because that's what the adapter is for....use it and enjoy.
Lupo FM transmitter March 9, 2010 G. Mackey If you have a car with a CD player & without the means to connect an MP3 player, you basically have to spend a lot of money if you want this connectivity. It also means a lot of hassle to install the new devices.
This little beauty is a cheap alternative to all that fuss, & it works pretty well, too. I read most of the reviews before purchasing mine, & the comments varied enormously. Taking stock of the situation, I reasoned that I might as well buy it as it was under a tenner. After all, if it didn't do the job, I hadn't lost much!!
It arrived & was very easy to set up. OK, it's a bit flimsy, but treat it with a bit of care & it won't fall apart. I set it up through one of my Archos 404's & tuned it into my house radio. The results were much better than I expected: The quality was quite clear & there wasn't any crackles or pops at 2 metres range. There was a little bit of hiss between tracks, but it wasn't obtrusive. I found that it pays to have the MP3 source at near-full volume, which reduces the hiss into the background. The amazing thing was that, hiss apart, the quality was very comparable to having the MP3 player connected straight into the radio. I wasn't expecting anything as good as that. No drop-out or fade, & no co-channel interference.
I then fitted the whole thing into my car, as this was the whole reason for buying it. Same result. I set the bass & treble up to suit the Lupo/MP3 combo & fitted 2 NiMh batteries. The Lupo comes with a (flimsy) power device for connecting into the car accessory socket, & leaving it on overnight also part-charges the NiMh batteries (nice bonus). (Tip: if you buy the Lupo, reinforce the power cord with a piece of tubing to prevent breakage at the neck)
The best way of describing the quality is that it's not as good as CD, but at least as good as FM radio. In a car, it's perfectly acceptable, & almost as good as spending lots of money on the alternative ways of hooking up an MP3 player.
At the price, it's worth buying.
LUPO Portable Stereo MP3 FM Transmitter/Modulator With 205 Channels (For All Ipods, Creative, Samsung, Sony Models & All Other MP3/MP4 Players)
Excellent features and value for money March 6, 2010 Richard Guest (Rugby, Warwickshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Since been legalised in the UK, there are lots of portable FM transmitters on the market. In relative terms, they are cheap to buy. They are flexible in use, all you have to do is insert the 3.5 mm plug attached to the unit into the corresponding socket of any audio source, MP3 player, computer, hi-fi etc. Then switch on and set the transmitter to a clear FM frequency, tune any FM radio to the same frequency and you have your own radio station!.
What I like about this particular product is the great range of frequencies you can choose, this is useful if you do alot of travelling. There is a facility to save the best frequencies. Compared with other units I have tried, the LUPO transmitter offers better sound quality without the distortion associated with some other models. It also has a good transmission range which means that I can take a portable radio anywhere around the house, garden or the garage and receive a decent stereo signal. Great when you are doing jobs around the place. The LUPO has a clear blue display which can also tell you the time or temperature. These are hardly essential but are a nice touch. Battery life is good, I tend to use rechargeable AAA batteries, but in the car it is better to use the cigarette lighter adapter which is included and save the batteries.
All in all, this is a good product and represents great value for money. I was wary of buying another FM transmitter because previous purchases have been disappointing in terms of signal quality or their poor build. This time I did a bit of research on what was on the market, read the reviews and decided on the LUPO. I was not disappointed and I don't think you will be.
Car heaven February 11, 2010 I. Roberts (Hereford) Easy to use and works perfectly in the car. Also useful around the house when you want to play the mp3 through some half-decent speakers.
very Good February 8, 2010 Mr. R. D. Prime (Devon) Hi, I have found this product very good. Besides listening to my music in my car I have tuned the item into my FM radios and listen where ever I am, shed, kitchen ect. recommend this item.
