Impressed October 24, 2008 Tony Langston (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hi, had the Sony CDXGT828 bout a week now and feel compelled to write, as I found it hard to find any user reviews. Visually a nice fascia, chrome knob has a nice band of rubber around it, aiding grip. The front usb sits behind a flap which looks and feels class. The usual Sony back drop video's in the main display, vu meters and graphic equalizer displays under the track info, you can opt for just titles (thankfully) which only display artist, or title, or album, which is a shame, sure they could of fitted it on the screen. Colour settings change all buttons (red, green & blue) except for the screen and light around the knob, which I must point out seems very bright on a unlit road at night, very distractingly. Bare in mind also the constantly flashing led, if you have one on your usb stick. I find the fascia tricky to click into place, inserting the bottom in its hinges then flipping closed, I'm used to Kenwood's that just clip in flush, guess I'll get used to that. I brought it for the front usb (I use memory stick)and was worried about browsing my files, I think Sony has done a fair job with it's browser, which basically displays a list of folders that contain files, i.e mp3's, not the folders that they are in, i.e I have a folder named 'Drum & Bass', inside is a folder named 'New Stuff', only 'New Stuff' will be displayed in the list, which doesn't help navigation in a vast collection. The data knob works a treat tho, must be said, scrolls nice and fast. Spot on Sony. For the money ( 100) I'm very pleased. There wasn't a great deal of choice for what I wanted, regardless of cost. I'm just stoked to get ALL my music on the road! Oh and mine came with remote control :)
