Good for the price December 17, 2008 Comical Engineer (UK) Bought this to replace the failed Sony in my old Landrover so didn't want to spend a lot of money. I also wanted an AUX in socket for my MP3 player. This unit was easy to install and came with the correct connector leads for the Landie which meant that I didn't have to spend another 7 for connectors and / or hack wires about. The unit works well but the Bass is not particularly powerful. Illumination is red backlighting with blue letters on the display. Read the manual to get out of the annoying and pointless Demo mode which scrolls the units' features acroos the screen all the time. Takes a minute or two to get rid of this. Display is a bit bright at night but not too bad. You can dim it using the menu but this is a nuisance. Also, there is no mute or attenuate button. It has 3 modes, CD, Tuner, Aux or Standby (off). The controls are pretty straightforward and the Aux function works fine with my cheap MP3 player. Sum-up: Cheap, cheerful and does the job. Can't grumble for the price.

Knowing the brand "Kenwood" I was confident that this audio system would provide a decent sound, and on that score I'm not disappointed. Also, as I was replacing an old audio in my 1997 Citroen van I was pleased that it was very straightforward - the sockets were actually compatable! The only problem I had was the FM aerial plug as it was different so I had to make up an adapter to plug it in (I guess these can be bought if necessary?) The only real gripe, as mentioned on previous review, is the difficulty working out the instructions, it's far from straightforward and difficult to know whether the model has certain features or not i.e. Clock? The manual suggests there is a clock incorporated yet in the MENU there is no mention of it? I've also not yet got MW/LW sound so I've still got to work that out (Want to be able to listen to the cricket when it's on). Apart from the above gripes, I'm very happy, it's far better than what I had before, even the speakers seem to have a new life (I thought I was going to have to change those). Incidently, I purchased thru Amazon/Car Audio Security on 2/8/08 and rcvd 5/8/08 via CityLink - brilliant service! Noticed price has since gone up so was lucky there too......
