Rubbish March 5, 2010 Christopher Roberts (Caernarfon, Wales, UK) DO NOT BUY THIS!! I tried this out in my car, connected the fm transmitter to my iPod, set it at full volume and nothing could be heard over the radio. I then used another fm radio placed right next to the transmitter and still nothing. As for the USB port, I tried it with my iPod touch, my brother's iPod nano, and multiple other USB devices, and none of them charged.
perfect!!! February 23, 2010 E. P. Mann I almost didnt buy this as it had so few stars but gave it a punt as it was so cheap. it works fantastically on my ford puma - absolutely perfect quality. all you do is press the button and it finds a frequency with no interference at all and then you just tune into that frequency and bingo. I had a different one before which had something like 4.5 stars on here and was awful quality and the wire connecting to the cigarette power socket broke within a couple of weeks so I am over the moon about this one.
only downside is that it doesnt charge my sony MP3 by plugging my normal sony usb charger cable into the socket on the device - i think you have to buy a different one or something - not really sure.
Great gadget for the price February 19, 2010 Scotia (Hampshire UK) This is the 2nd Kensington transmitter I've bought in the last 5 years, the last one having eventually developed a broken cable after a lot of travelling. This new one has an improved design with a thicker cable and added feature of autoseek. Compared with some other transmitters, the sound quality is good to very good, provided you turn up the volume on your MP3 and on the car stereo, and there is no audible hiss on a quiet FM frequency. My only small gripes would be that to get the best reception you have to move the cable around (this acts as an aerial) and the buttons are small and fiddly, especially if the unit is plugged into and extension 12V socket in the car, as opposed to directly into the car's own 12V socket. But for less than a fiver this is a great bargain/stocking filler
Useless - don't bother. February 12, 2010 PCS (Leek, Staffordshire) If you want to spend money (even a mere four quid) on an item which seems to prefer signals from sources other than your ipod, then buy one of these. It also has the added bonus of sticking out too close to the gearstick (on my car, at least) and creating a tangle of wire between itself and the ipod. It's a complete waste of time and money.
If you'd rather have a clear signal and wireless operation, buy a Griffin Itrip. I've used one for several years and in the main the signal is strong and clear. And of course, you don't have to put up with a wire trailing all over the place.
(NB This Kensington item doesn't charge ipods, which they keep pretty quiet until it arrives with a small sticker in the instructions telling you as much).
Kensington Liquid FM Plus - MP3 Transmitter
Spend time setting it up. February 3, 2010 M. A. Thomas I first used this last week and thought it was no good. However I gave it a second chance and repositioned the lead to the player which is also the ariel until I got a good signal. It now works very well with a signal as loud as the FM radio stations. If it hears nothing for one minute it goes into standby mode, which is bad when it is linked up to my Garmin sat nav.I get around this by running the mp3 player in unison.
