Get it! July 29, 2010 V. Barclay (UK) I read the reviews and decided to get this model rather than the latest one and really pleased I did. I used to have a Timex Iron Man watch and gave up using it because I found it way too complicated to use and bulky with too many components. It also took ages to pick up a signal and dropped it really quickly. Couldn't be happier with this in comparison, yes it quite big but it's good to be able to see the screen properly. Not at all too heavy, so simple to use it's not funny and hasnt dropped a signal yet. I really like the alerts as can hear it even with my headphones in and music playing. Brilliant! also seeing calories burned is very motivating.
Fantastic Sports Aid July 24, 2010 Keith Bradshaw (Wiltshire) I really agonised over buying one of these as thought that it might be a gimmick which I used for a while and then couldn't be bothered. Not a bit of it. Now had one for 3 months and genuinely would not leave for a run without it. In fact just come back from visiting my sister in Canada and even in the wild North of the country it picked up the satellites easily and even local maps to plan the route.
Like most people I downloaded Sportstracks software from Zone 5 - freeware and excellent programme. Mapping function is particularly good. My sister was so impressed that she went out and bought one. Even uses the heart rate monitor when inside in the gym.
The watch certainly has far more funtions than I wil ever use but to start with if you want time, pace and distance for your run you can be up and running in 5 mins. I now use the heart rate and also the speed function whilst out on my bike. Overall brilliant accessary and although not cheap at 130 pounds or so its incredibly good value when you see what you get.
A couple of tips which helped me if you buy one:
- There was no where I could find the time of day! The main display is configured with 3 screens - pace, stopwatch and distnace. If you configure for 4 screens then time is added. (you can also change any of the screens and have say heartrate instead of time of day if you are training to that.
- You can change units mid race if you want - I started a 10K with watch set to miles and it just converted without altering what I had already done.
- You have to 'pair' the heart rate sensor as its wireless. You need to wear the monitor to so this - it switches on when you put it on and so if you don't wear it it won't pair.
- It takes about 2-3 mins to configure to the satellites. I tend to go out and stretch a little whilst it configures. When it goes from 'acquiring satellites' to show the time screen its ready to go. I have never lost satellite coverage either in cities of remote country.
Good Stuff July 20, 2010 S. Butteriss (UK) Use mainly for cycling but as it's designed to be wrist worn or running it's very versatile. Just strap to handlebars on a piece of pipe insulation and its rock solid no need for the special fitting.
Unit operation very easy. Software both standalone and web based app very good and very reliable. Connectivity reliable and all Ant+ items interfacable.
If I could ask for anything else it would be navigation but for the price you won't find better.
This watch is great July 16, 2010 runner I recommend this watch. There is the ability to customise the display on the different screens so that you can choose what will be displayed from many different items. It stores a record of your runs which you can refer back to afterwards. It is also possible to set the watch up to warn you if you are running too fast or too slow (within a set band of paces). It seems to take a bit of time to connect to the GPS satellites, but you can get around this by turning it on and leaving it somewhere where it can obtain the satellites a bit before you start your run and then there are no problems
Great Product! July 10, 2010 D. Mcdonnell Bought it 1 month ago and have used it 10 times already and it has done everything I expected. Great for pacing myself on long runs and knowing exactly how far I have run.
